SHREVEPORT, La. - Centenary College had four times as many free throw attempts as the Pirates and scored over five times as many point from the charity stripe as SU fell 65-55 on Friday night. 

The Gents went 22-32 from the line while Southwestern was just 4-8 on the evening. 

After and opening three pointer by Centenary, the Pirates controlled the first half. Southwestern led by as many as 10 points in the opening frame and took a seven point lead, 34-27, into the break. 

It took just four minutes into the second half for Centenary to tie the game as Southwestern was held scoreless. Nearly seven minutes in, the Pirates got their first field goal of the second half and trailed by two, 38-36. 

A pair of free throws by Adrian Johnson with 11:43 on the clock tied the game again and the Pirates went ahead by four with back to back layups. The lead didn't last long, however, as Centenary evened the game 46-46 with just over five minutes to play. 

Southwestern hit a scoring drought just as the Gents got on a roll, allowing CC to build a six point lead and close out the game from the free throw line, hitting seven of eight free throws down the stretch to secure the 65-55 final. 

Michael Cantu led the scoring for Southwestern with 14 points on 5-8 shooting from the field and 2-7 from three point range. Jonathan Blount of Centenary led all scorers with 21 points. The Pirates shot only 38.2% from the field and 34.6% from three point range while Centenary was 50% from the field and 68.8% from deep. 

The loss drops Southwestern to 5-10 on the year and 1-4 in the SCAC while Centenary improves to 7-7 and 2-3. The Pirates remain on the road to face Austin College on Saturday in Sherman, Texas.
