Shooting Woes Return for Pirates

SHREVEPORT, La. - Southwestern fell 79-48 to Centenary College in SCAC action on Saturday night to fall to 1-5 on the year and 1-1 in the SCAC. 

The Pirates hung close through the first ten minutes of the first half but hit a scoring drought while Centenary built their lead to 20 points, 36-16, with 2:23 to go until halftime. After a free throw and a few three pointers by the Gents, Southwestern found themselves trailing by 24 at the break, 41-17.

SU wasn't able to gain ground in the second half as Centenary continued to pull further ahead until arriving at the final. 

Southwestern shot just 30.8% from the field and just 14.3% from the field and 59.1% from the free throw line. Travis Kurtz led the Pirates with seven point while Centenary's Hardin-Crawford led all scorers with 16 points. 

The Pirates look to get back in the win column by returning home to face Schreiner on Tuesday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and will be a donation opportunity for Southwestern fans to donate to Operation Blue Santa.
