LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University sophomore Brianna Timourian was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Timourian posted the fastest time by any SCAC runner this season and smashed the Pirates' 6K record by 26 seconds with a time of 22:21.3 at the UIW Invitational last Saturday. The Round Rock native finished fifth overall and second among non-Division I runners at the meet.

Timourian and the rest of the SU women's cross country team will host the Southwestern Invitational on Friday evening at Berry Springs Park in Georgetown. The race is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., while the men's race will start 30 minutes later.
