LARRIEU SMITH SELECTED TO LEAD TEAM USA AT XC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TOBAGO

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University Head Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field coach Francie Larrieu Smith has been selected as the Team Leader for both the junior and senior women's cross country teams by USA Track & Field. The teams will compete at the NACAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, March 6th at Mt. Irvine Bay Golf Resort in Tobago.

Over 175 athletes from 16 countries will be competing in the North American, Central American and Caribbean Area (NACAC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The senior women compete in a 6K while the junior women run a 4K race. This is the first time the Championships will be hosted in the Caribbean. Previous years the even was held in Orlando, Florida.

Larrieu Smith will be leading some of the best talent the United States has to offer. The open women’s division is led by 2009 US Cross Country Champion Emily Brown from Minneapolis, Minn. Nine other runners from eight different states will round out the US women’s participation
