CONYERS, Ga. – The Southwestern women’s cross
country team battled difficult travel and tough course conditions
at the SCAC Championships on Saturday at Oglethorpe University.
Rain and a dramatic weather change during the race resulted in
slower than expected times for the runners but the women still put
up a good showing.
Senior Tami Warner led the Pirates and came in 19th place overall,
finishing in a time of 25:16.78. Sophomore Lisa Morse was the
second finisher for Southwestern, coming in 27:24.53 for 48th place
while first-year Christina Hadly finished in 52nd place and 3rd for
SU coming in 27:47.40.
Juniors Ursula James and Lili McEntire finished in 62nd and 66th
place respectively with times of 29:20.36 and 30:04.24. First-year
Laura Wooden rounded out the Pirate effort with a 68th place finish
in a time of 30:14.91.
The Pirates will participate in the Jameson 5K as part of
Southwestern’s Homecoming festivities on November 7th before
heading to the South/Southeast Regional Championships in
Greensboro, NC on November 14th.
