SEGUIN, Texas – Despite not running a 6K yet this year, or
ever as the case may be for some of Southwestern runners, the
Pirates took fourth place at the DIII Texas Championships on
Saturday, finishing behind McMurry, UT-Tyler and Trinity.
Senior Tami Warner took her first 6K of the season head on as she
captured third place with a time of 24:56 to lead the SU women.
Sophomore Lisa Morse (pictured) was the Pirates second finisher and
11th overall and did so by posting a personal best time of 26:33
and improving on her previous best by nearly a minute.
First-year Christina Hadly came in 16th place, posting a time of
26:54 in her first ever 6K. Rounding out the top five for
Southwestern were junior Ursula James who came in 29th place at
28:42 and first-year Laura Wooden with a time of 28:49 for 33rd
place. Junior Lili McEntire rounded out the Pirate effort with a
47th place finish in a time of 30:30.
Southwestern will next compete on October 10th at the University of
Incarnate Word Invitational in Live Oak, TX.
