No. 3: After 63-year off-season, Southwestern football returns

For the first time in 63 years the Pirates lined up on the gridiron on September 7 against Texas Lutheran being voted the No. 3 moment from the 2013-14 school year.

A SCAC record-setting crowd 7,321 saw the Pirate and Bulldogs face off with TLU edging the Southwestern 44-14.

Wide receiver Colten Shea added to the record books as well during the season opener with 367 all-purpose yards breaking the SCAC record. Shea also came within 10 yards of breaking the SCAC single-game receiving record with 258 and two touchdowns.

Although the Pirates were not able to find a win in their first year back, three first-year players were honored by the SCAC garnering First Team accolades, Justin Broussard, Tyler Frisby and Matt Gillen. In total eight Pirates earned all-SCAC honors with five more being tabbed SCAC Honorable Mention: Brandon Fleischmann, Colten Shea and Taylor Stephens on the offensive side of the ball, while Alex Tyson and Alex Lee earned honors on defense.
