SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In a spectacular showing, the Southwestern men's cross-country team placed 5th in the University of Incarnate Word Invitational and was the top Division III team to place at the meet.
Defeating Abilene Christian, St. Thomas, Trinity, Texas Lutheran, McMurry and Schreiner, the Southwestern Pirates came away with a score of 129 points as a team.
Out of 93 runners, both Josh Im, who finished 10th, and John Hatton, who finished 11th, helped lead the Pirates by finishing with 26:57.6 (Im) and 27:01.8 (Hatton) times.
Pirate Miles Griffin finished with a time of 29:16.0, followed by Nathan Botros, who ran 29:51.0, and C.P. Shaulis, with a time of 29:55.1.
Up next, the Southwestern Pirates prepare for the University of Dallas Invitational Oct. 13 in Irving, Texas.
