Lauren Crabtree and Riley Brantley Named to All-SCAC Volleyball Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Southwestern University Pirates' right side hitter and setter Lauren Crabtree and middle blocker Riley Brantley were named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) all-conference team as voted on by the conference head coaches. 

Crabtree was named to the All-SCAC First Team. The sophomore from Dallas showcased an all-around game all season, finishing with 470 assists, 311 digs, 251 kills, 37 blocks, and 53 service aces, finishing second in the conference in the last category. 

Brantley, a first year middle blocker from Clear League City, Texas, was named to the Second Team. She finished the regular season with 255 kills, averaging 2.32 per set on a .273 hitting percentage with 82 total blocks and 13 service aces, scoring 314.5 points. Brantley also contributed 71 digs and 20 assists. 

Trinity University's Avery Tuggle was named SCAC Player of the Year, St. Thomas' Kaylyn Latin won Backrow Player of the Year, and Meaghan Hohman won Freshman of the Year. Trinity's Julie Jenkins was named Coach of the Year. The rest of the All-SCAC team is as follows:

Southwestern finished the season 21-13 with a 12-6 conference record, earning the third seed in the SCAC Championship Tournament. The Pirates will play host school Texas Lutheran University in the first round of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 p.m.
