Volleyball Sweeps First Day of SCAC Group A Divisional

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Southwestern University Pirates volleyball team swept the first day of the SCAC Group A Divisional, following its victory over Schreiner with a three-set win over the Centenary Ladies.

First year outside hitter Emma White set a new career mark for a second consecutive game with 15 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, adding 10 digs, two aces and two block assists for 18 points. The Southwestern defense also limited Centenary to under .100 hitting with 14 block assists.

  • The Pirates remain undefeated all-time against Centenary with a perfect 17-0 record.

  • Riley Brantley finished with single-digit kills for the first time in five matches but found other ways to contribute, controlling the net with five block assists.

  • Libero Ali Grona continues to excel back in her familiar middle back defensive alignment, picking up 16 digs in only three set.

  • Katelyn Whitehead finished with another double, setting 32 assists with 10 digs and two block assists, showing off her versatility.

With the victory, the Pirates improve to 8-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. Southwestern will resume play tomorrow with matches against Dallas (11 a.m.) and Colorado College (2:00 p.m.).
