RICHARDSON, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates volleyball team lost its second match of the day, falling to the University of Texas-Dallas Comets in four sets (27-15; 20-25; 21-25; 20-25).

Both teams struggled with their efficiency in a hard-fought first set that featured seven tied scores and five lead changes with each hitting .000 for the set. "This team continues to use each point and match to learn how to see the game and respond to what we are seeing volleyball systems-wise," Head Coach Don Flora said. "Having teammates step up and take care of their teammate at key times continue to get stronger each match.

"We have identified how the day-to-day work and daily training pratice has meaning in each match. This is a sign of a quality team."

  • Riley Brantley was the Pirates' most potent weapon, recording 10 kills on 30 attacks with one error for a .300 hitting percentage. She also led the team with five block assists for 12.5 points.
