No. 2 Pirates Have No Trouble with Centenary in SCAC Quarterfinals

KERRVILLE, Texas - The No. 2 nationally-ranked Southwestern University volleyball team swept the Centenary Ladies in quarterfinals action at the SCAC Championships on the campus of Schreiner University. 

The Pirates hit an incredible .323 in the match as a team while playing amazing defense to hold Centenary to -.059 including two negative hitting percentages in two sets. Southwestern cruised in all three sets, winning 25-13, 25-11, 25-17.

Seniors Kate Mitchell and Piper Sisemore each finished with 13 kills with Mitchell hitting .440 from her outside hitter position to go with a solo block and four block assists while Sisemore hit .571 as the middle blocker and also added four block assists. Junior Megan Grimes finished with 32 assists in the match.

Defensively, junior Jamison Duck had 14 digs as well as two service aces while Grimes added 11 asissts and junior Brandi Campos picked up 10 assists to go with two service aces.

The Pirates, the No. 3 seed at the conference tournament, will go on to face the No. 2 seed and No. 5 team in the nation, Trinity University, this evening at 6 PM.
