Thibodeau Earns All-America Honor

LEXINGTON, Ky. -  The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 32nd annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division III women's volleyball. Senior outside hitter Rachel Thibodeau earned her second consecutive nod, this year as a Third Team selection. 

The awards will be presented Nov. 14, 2012, at the NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet in Holland, Mich., where the 2012 Division III AVCA Player of the Year will be announced.  The NCAA Division III national quarterfinals begin Nov. 15.

Thibodeau had an outstanding senior season as evidenced by her numerous honors this season. She led Southwestern in kills with 137, averaging 3.35 per set and a .203 attack percentage. She was th ird on the team in aces with 29 and fourth in digs averaging three per set. Thibodeau also recorded 25 assists and 42 blocks in her final season.

Southwestern ended the year at 24-12 after earning their eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA National Tournament. They finished third in the SCAC Conference Tournament and fell in the opening round of the NCAA Regional to California Lutheran. 

The 2012 class is highlighted by the only four-time All-American recipient of this year's class Marilee Fisher of Washington-St. Louis.

The 2012 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee: Hannah Long, Southwestern, chairperson; Chad Braegelmann, Minnesota-Morris; Amber Warners, Calvin; Shelley Bauder, Moravian; Deb Kiick, Millikin; Tim Byram, Endicott; Cal Wickens, Nazareth; Valerie Cowan, Pomona-Pitzer.
