NCAA TOURNAMENT BOUND: PIRATES RECEIVE AT LARGE BID

GEORGETOWN, Texas - For the sixth consecutive season the Southwestern Pirates are in the NCAA National Tournament. Southwestern received one of the at-large bids after being upset in the SCAC Conference Tournament this weekend. SU faces Thomas More on Friday, November 11th at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Thomas More enters the tournament via the Automatic Qualifier after winning their second straight President's Athletic Conference title. The Saints ended the regular season with a 28-7 overall record. Southwestern boasts a 31-6 overall record and were ranked #18 in the nation in last week's AVCA poll.

The match-up will be exciting as both teams have numerous offensive threats. Southwestern averages 11.54 kills per set and a .194 hitting percentage with four players, Lindsay Thompson, Lauren Brown, Rachel Thibodeau and Allison Stubbs, averaging over two per set. Thomas More averages 13.62 kills per game and a .260 attack percentage with five Saints over two kills a game, led by Brandi Corbello who is averaging 2.98 per game with a .234 hitting percentage.

Both teams are solid defensively as SU averages 17.99 digs per set while Thomas More averages 18.41. Stubbs is leading in digs for Southwestern at just under four per game. The Saints' Emily Bohman is averaging just over five and a half digs per game.

Southwestern's difficult schedule will certainly serve them well as they have faced the top teams in the nation already this season.

California Lutheran, Hardin-Simmons, Washington & Lee, Mt. St. Joseph, Piedmont and host institution Emory make up the rest of the Regional Bracket.
