
Southwestern swimmer Sam Anderson is the men's Southwestern Featured Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Pirates' season-opening dual meet against Trinity on Oct. 16.
Anderson won the 100 individual medley against the defending SCAC-champion Tigers on Saturday, setting a program record with a time of 54.79. He also had second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (22.05) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.92).
The junior from Broomfield, Colorado, is also the school record holder in the 200 individual medley, setting it at the SCAC Championships in 2020 with a time of 1:52.98. He was also part of the program's fast time in the 400 freestyle relay, joining Todd Coachman, Pfiefer, and Keith Gill to swim a 3:04.28 in the 2020 SCAC Championships. Anderson has two All-SCAC Second Team performances in the Individual Medley, placing second in 2020 and 2021.
Southwestern will return to action this weekend, hosting Colorado College and Centenary on Friday and Saturday.
