Swim & Dive Celebrates Senior Day Against UT-Permian Basin

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Southwestern University Pirates celebrated seniors Todd Coachman, Brielle Adolph, Teresa Cropper and Megan Mick in their final home meet against UT-Permian Basin (UTPB) who took today's win over the Pirates with a final combined score of 259-295. 

The men's swimming and diving team lost its head-to-head meet with the UTPB by a final of 169.5-113.5. 

Coachman had an outstanding performance for the men's swim and claimed two first-place finishes in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 56.76 and the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 48.11. He also contributed to the men's 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:40.26.

In other  highlighted relay performances, the Pirates took first place finishes in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with Carter Duncan, Alek Argueta, Keith Gill, Drew Anderson (1:37.65) and in the 800-Yard Freestyle Relay, with Dylan Neumann, Gill, Anderson and Caleb Pfiefer (7:27.94)

Matt Oevermann finished first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:57.30 as well as second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:49.76) followed by Sean Calvert who finished fourth overall (1:50.70). 

In other freestyle events, Gill, Anderson and Pfiefer claimed the top three finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 21.71, 22.12 and 22.18. Anderson finished fourth for the Pirates in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.03 and Neumann finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.53. 

Argueta finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.23 as well as Neumann (1:02.72) and Brooks Taylor (1:03.06) who finished fourth and fifth overall. Sean Calvert also finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing with a time of 2:19.52. 

For the 100-yard butterfly, Gill, finished second with a time of 53.35 followed by Pfiefer who finished fourth with a time of 54.47. 

Lastly, Connor Moland claimed first place in the 200-yard backstroke 2:04.77 and Sam Anderson finished first in the 200 IM wiht a time of 1:59.60. 

The Pirates now finish their last regular meet of the season and prepare for the SCAC Championships in San Antonio that will take place from Wednesday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 15.
