LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University sophomore Mickey Scharbrough and freshman John Rodriguez collected weekly honors from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Scharbrough earned swimmer of the week honors, while Rodriguez captured diver of the week laurels.

Both student-athletes helped the Pirates to wins over Colorado College and Centenary last weekend.

Scharbrough won six events in back-to-back days, including four individual races. The Lake Havasu City, Ariz., native won the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes last Friday against Colorado College. He also helped the 400-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams to wins during the meet.

A day later, Scharbrough won both the 50- and 100-yard breaststrokes. He set a season best in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 59.90.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez led Southwestern on the diving board, placing first in both the one- and three-meter dives against the Tigers.

The New Braunfels native posted a score of 186.10 in the one-meter event and then tallied a total of 153.35 off the three-meter board.

The Pirates resume action this weekend at the Trinity Invite in San Antonio.
