Volleyball Holds Steady At No. 16 In National Rankings

Southwestern volleyball held steady in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association national rankings, staying at No. 16 after going 2-1 last weekend.
On Saturday, the Pirates won a pair of matches, defeating St. Thomas in five sets and Texas Lutheran in four, getting a career-high 43 digs from senior libero Ali Grona. Southwestern currently ranks No. 9 in the nation in assists per set, led by setters Katelyn Whitehead and Claire Romo. The Pirates also rank seventh in the country in digs per set (20.07), with Ali Grona No. 9 individually with total digs (513) and ninth in kills per set (13.67).
Southwestern is 21-3 this season, including 11-3 in conference play. All three losses have come to Trinity and Colorado College, which rank in the top 10 in Division III. The Pirates will close out the regular season this weekend with matches on Saturday against Schreiner and No. 2-ranked Trinity University.
