GEORGETOWN, Texas – In Southwestern's first match of the day against a nationally-ranked opponent, the #12 Pirates defeated #18 La Verne 3-0 Saturday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams hit .250 in the first set but Southwestern took the win 25-22 thanks to two four point runs midway through the set.
- La Verne again took the lead early but Kirby Kincannon served five straight points to put the Pirates up 20-15 and set up the 25-21.
- Southwestern edged out the Leopards in the final set, taking the win 25-23 after ULV tied the match 23-23.

Southwestern improves to 28-3 on the year with two matches remaining. They face #19 UT Dallas at 3:00 pm in San Antonio before hosting Concordia at home Tuesday night.
