Volleyball Closes Out SCAC Regular Season Action

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Pirates closed out the SCAC regular season schedule on Sunday, going 1-1. 

SU opened with #18 Colorado College and knew they would have a battle on their hands. Southwestern started out strong and took the first match 25-19 with a .341 attack percentage. The second set was a marathon match that found the Pirates just barely beat to the finish as they fell 31-29. The Tigers took the momentum and ran with it as they closed out the match with 25-18 and 25-15 set three and set four wins. 

Rachel Thibodeau led the attack with 16 kills and a .255 attack percentage while Meredith Rollins added in 11 and Olivia Drummond 10. Lacey Strickland posted 41 assists and a team high 21 digs while Chandler Lentz added 20 digs. 

UD closed out the tournament with the University of Dallas and wasted no time taking control of the match. In set one SU forced the Crusaders to hit .000 to win 25-20 and cruised the rest of the way winning 25-17 and 25-18 to win 3-0. 

Southwestern hit .259 as a team and was led by Thibodeau's 11 kills. Kaitlyn Foster added in nine and Lentz led in digs with 13. 

Now 19-9 on the season and 7-3 in the SCAC, the Pirates turn their attention to non-conference action as they host the annual Halloween Tournament this weekend. They open with Our Lady of the Lake at 3 p.m. on Friday and Hardin Simmons at 7 p.m.
