Volleyball Splits Day One of SCAC Divisional II

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southwestern opened their final conference weekend with a 3-0 routing of Centenary College but then fell 3-0 to Trinity on Saturday night.

The Pirates were firing on all cylindars in thier first match. Southwestern hit .347 while holding the Ladies to an unbelievalbe -.022. Centenary was never in the match as Southwestern cruised to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-9 win.

Elizabeth Sandoval led the way offensively with 10 kills on 23 attempts with just one error for a .391 hitting percentage. Chandler Lentz had a team high 14 digs and three aces.

Southwestern knew the second match of the day would be a much different story, but the differences were much greater than anticipated. SU wasn't able to get their offense going at any point in the match, hitting .049, .075 and .000 for the three sets. No Pirate hitter was in double digits for kills while Trinity was obviously right at home with a .244 attack percentage.

Lentz led with 19 digs while Lacey Strickland added in 15 and Kaitlyn Foster 13. Southwestern fell in three straight, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.

The Pirates will have to regroup quickly and turn things around as they close out SCAC conference regular season action on Sunday with Colorado College and the University of Dallas.
