Southwestern took care of business and won the final game 15-11 to take the match 3-2.

SU dropped game one 23-25 but took the momentum from a strong start to win games two and three 25-22 and 25-12. With things working in their favor the Pirates seemed to have the match under control but the Tigers regrouped and came back strong to win game four 25-23. Southwestern was narrowly edged out in the fifth game 15-9.

Brown and Thompson led the attack, recording 12 and 11 kills respectively. Stubbs and Hutson controlled the Tigers' attackers as Stubbs had 24 digs and Hutson had 22.
