GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Women's Track and Field traveled to San Marcos, TX, for a three-day meet hosted by Texas State University. The Pirates faced new competition as the Bobcat Invitational included a diverse group of schools from different regions and classifications.

"With a small group traveling to our most competitive meet of the season thus far, the Pirates overwhelmingly shined. The Bobcat Invitational is routinely an amazing meet, and our athletes lived up to the challenge. The next few weeks will be special if we can continue this upward trend in effort and consistency," recapped Head Coach Eboh.

Coaches Corner

Coach Tuttle: "It was important for our hurdlers, especially our younger ones, to compete at a meet of this caliber with these talented athletes from all over the country. A meet like this is worth so much in terms of race experience; there's just no replacement for elite competition and seeing that they themselves are among the best. I'm excited to see how they apply the lessons they learned this past weekend to future meets as we move into championship season. And what else can be said at this point about Arden: she's one of the most consistent, game-changing, and talented 400m hurdles that this conference has seen and will ever see. Watching her break her own record over and over again has just become business as usual at this point, and we're so proud of her and her leadership to our women.

Coach Sponsel: "I expect full effort from all athletes in every race at every meet. So at meets like this where not everyone gets in and you know beforehand that the competition will mostly be of a higher division, lots of athletes push themselves even harder to stay competitive and prove they belong. If you go in with that attitude, you can come away with a better understanding of your true capabilities, fitness, and desire to compete. It can be a real confidence builder. I think the distance squad achieved some of that this weekend and will be better prepared for more competitive environments of any level in the future."
