Women's Track & Field Shines at SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO — Southwestern women's track and field continues to rewrite the school record books this season, setting four new records with three overall victories on the second day of the SCAC Championships to finish in fourth. 

The quartet of Erica Robuck, Keamber McCracken, Arden Neff, and Lilly Van Meter obliterated the school record to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:03.04, besting their previous time set of 4:10.29 set in mid-March by seven seconds. 

Southwestern also got another win in the discus, where Tiamara Hill-Johnson defended her title with a school-record throw of 42.52 meters, breaking her previous mark of 42.06 meters set at last year's DIII Challenge. Her throw is the 20th best in Division III this season and is second all-time in SCAC history. 

The Pirates also took the top two spots in the javelin, with Charlotte Kraushaar setting a school record with a throw of 34.90 meters, breaking Taylor Hubbard's mark of 33.97 meters set at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational two weeks ago. Hubbard finished second, recording a personal-best throw of 34.04 meters. 

Kraushaar also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.0 and eighth in the high jump with a height of 1.43 meters. Hannah Jones finished 11th with a height of 1.37 meters. 

Neff placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.52, followed by McCracken in 10th at 17.22. Van Meter placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.68. Rachel Chiella finished 10th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:20.82. 

Lauren Mackrell paced four Southwestern sprinters in the 100-meter dash with a school-record time of 12.66, finishing seventh. Robuck followed in 13th (12.78), then Dejahnae Thompson (13.68), and Oliva Bakke (13.73).

Southwestern finishes the SCAC Championships with four overall wins, finishing fourth in the conference behind Trinity, Colorado College, and Texas Lutheran. The Pirates will compete in the Saints' Last Chance Invitational hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University on May 13-14.
