Women's Track & Field Wraps Up ACU Invitational

ABILENE, Texas — The Southwestern women's track & field team wrapped up the Abilene Christian University Wes Kittley Invitational with a slew of solid performances in a field with NCAA Division I and II athletes. 

Taylor Hubbard opened the event with an 18th-place finish in the javelin throw, recording a distance of 28.21m. Tiamara Hill-Johnson followed in the discus throw and was the only Division III athlete to finish in the top 10 with a distance of 40.79m, finishing a few meters off her school record of 42.06m set last year. 

Southwestern's two 4x100m relay teams placed sixth and eighth, respectively. Olivia Bakke, Keamber McCracken, Lilly Van Meter, and Jessie Chiella clocked in at 53.08, and Erica Robuck, Lauren Mackrell, Arden Neff, and Dejahnae Thompson finished at 54.14. 

The 100m hurdles followed with McCracken and Chiella placing 21st and 22nd with times of 16.93 and 17.26. Then, Robuck (12.88, 22nd), Mackrell (13.13, 26th), Van Meter (13.6, 32nd), and Bakke (13.66, 33rd) competed in the 100m dash, with Robuck setting a new personal best. 

Neff was the only Division III athlete to finish in the top 10 of the 400 hurdles in a field where eight Division I athletes placed in the top 10.

Next, Mackrell (27.80m, 32nd), McCracken (27.90, 33rd), Van Meter (28.33), Thompson (28.65, 37th), and Bakke (28.77, 38th) all competed in the 200 dash, with Mackrell and McCracken setting new personal bests. Finally, Southwestern closed the event in the 4X400m relay, getting a 10th-place performance from Thompson, McCracken, Neff, and Robuck at 4:10.29, setting a new school record.

Southwestern will return to action on Saturday, March 26, at the DIII Challenge hosted by Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.
