Women's Track & Field Wraps Up UT-Tyler Icebreaker Classic

BULLARD, Texas -- The Southwestern University Pirates women's track and field team completed their second meet of the season at the UT-Tyler Icebreaker Classic with over 500 athletes and 960 event entries. 

For the field events, Southwestern's Tiamara Hill-Johnson placed in the top five for women's discus, coming in fifth place with a mark of 40.71 meters. Jones also competed in the women's hammer throw, placing 12th and the women's shot put, placing in 22nd. Taylor Hubbard competed in the women's pole vault, earning seventh place and placing eighth in the women's javelin.

In the 100-meter dash, Erica Robuck placed 17th  out of 28 participants with a time of 13.16, followed by Lauren Mackrell, who placed 22nd with a time of 13.54. Dejahnae Thompson placed 24th with a time of 13.59. Kelly, Thompson, and Mackrell also competed in the 200-meter dash placing at 26th, 30th, and 33rd alongside Keamber McCracken, who placed 36th overall.

In the women's 800-meter dash, Giselle Kennison placed 28th with a time of 2:45.59. Morgan Kos also ran in the 800-meter dash and placed 33rd, while Lauren Calzado and Corinne Johnson placed 34th and 36th.

In the long-distance running events, Laura Carrasco Torres was the only Pirate to compete in the 1500 Meter race. She placed 45th with a time of 5:30.33.

Up next, women's track and field will get ready for a two-day meet in Houston, Texas, at the Victor Lopez Classic on Friday, March 26, and Saturday, March 27.
