Tiamara Hill-Johnson Earns Track & Field All-Region Honors

Tiamara Hill-Johnson Earns Track & Field All-Region Honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) announced its 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Region teams, naming Southwestern's Tiamara Hill-Johnson to the South/Southeast team.

"With the challenges this season presented, Tiamara consistently rose to the occasion to compete at a championship level," Head Women's Track & Field Coach Kenneth Eboh says. "She embodies being a leader, outstanding citizen, and positive role model. She's a conference champion, all-region, and on the cusp of competing on the national stage as a freshman. The future is bright for Tiamara. We couldn't be prouder to have her representing Southwestern."

All-Region honors for NCAA Division III Track & Field started during the 2015-16 academic year. The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.

Hill-Johnson is the first Southwestern track & field athlete to earn All-Region honors, qualifying for the award in the discus. The freshman from Dallas, Texas, was the discus individual champion at the Southern Conference Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, throwing a distance of 39.57 meters. She also set a new school record in the discus with a mark of 42.06 meters at the Division III Challenge hosted by Texas Lutheran University.

In her first season, Hill-Johnson produced four top-five finishes, all in the discus. She also competed in the shot put and hammer throw.
