Southwestern to compete in SCAC Championships this weekend

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern track & field teams will compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships this weekend in Seguin.

The league championships will begin on Friday and conclude the following day. Texas Lutheran, who is the host institution, will provide live video of the action.

On the men's side, the Pirates are expected to compete for points in several events.

Ryan Pace has logged the third-fastest time in the conference in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 16.55 seconds at the UIW Cardinal Invitational on April 8.

Meanwhile, Gregory McDade is seeded fifth in the 400m with a time of 51.19 at the McMurry War Hawk Classic on March 25.

In the field events, Tyler Adams will bolster Southwestern in all three throws. He has the second-longest heave in the hammer throw (41.25m). Adams also is seeded fifth in the discus throw (40.13m) and sixth in the javelin (37.52m)

Milton Holmes' triple jump mark of 12.51m at the Trinity Open on Feb. 27 is the sixth-longest in the league this season.

The women's squad also is expected to produce points in several events, led by Kimi Prevost and Tori Carraway.

Prevost owns the conference's longest mark in the hammer throw this season, as she posted a heave of 32.12m at the UIW Cardinal Invitational on April 8. Prevost also is seeded third in the shot put (10.55m), fifth in the javelin (28.18m) and sixth in the discus (28.98m).

Carraway has the second-fastest time in the league in the 100-meter hurdles (16.13). She also is seeded fourth in the triple jump (10.85m) and sixth in the long jump (4.72m).

Southwestern also will push for points from Molly Campbell and Kelsey Faykus in the throws.

Faykus' discus throw of 34.44m at the UIW Cardinal Invitational on April 8 is the second-longest by a conference student-athlete this season. Campbell enters with the league's third-farthest hammer throw mark of 30.33m.
