LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the five finalists for the 2022 SCAC Woman of the Year award. "The award recognizes the conference's senior female student-athlete who has best distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence and service and leadership," as publicized by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 

 Jesse Stovall, the 2022 Dr. Carla Lowry Southwestern Women's Athlete of the Year, two-time SCAC Woman's Swimmer of the Year, and two-time NCAA Qualifier has been announced as a top five finalist for the annual Woman of the Year award given out by the SCAC. During her time at Southwestern Stovall has been selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-American, which recognizes athletes that achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher and a qualification to the NCAA Championships and has been recognized twice on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll. 

Under the leadership of Head Coach Jon Duncan and the 2022 SCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff of the Year, Stovall has become one of the most accomplished swimmers in porgram history, breaking conference and programs records, Stovall has set the standard athletically and academically for years to come.

To be nominated, student-athletes must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in his primary sport by the end of the 2022 spring season, received his undergraduate degree prior to the conclusion of the summer 2022 term and had a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.500 (4.000 scale) with the noted exception due to COVID-19 pandemic. A student-athlete who received an extension waiver or a season of competition/participation waiver in his primary sport due to cancelation of a 2020 and/or 2021 athletics season or championship may be nominated for the 2022 Man of the Year, provided he otherwise satisfies nomination criteria.

The SCAC will announce the 2022 SCAC Woman of the Year later in July.
