Women's Swimming and Diving Earns Two Wins, NCAA B-Cuts On Day 2 of SCAC Championships

GARLAND, Texas — The Southwestern Pirates women's swimming and diving team set two conference records and earned two NCAA B-Cuts on the second day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships.

Southwestern opened the day with a record-breaking performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay, setting the new conference mark with a time of 1:34.49. Jesse Stovall, Zoe Garcia, Emma Williams, and Emma Frey edged out Trinity's time of 1:34.71 and earned an NCAA B-cut, making the quartet eligible for NCAA Championships consideration.

Stovall continued her dominance in the 50-yard freestyle, winning the event for the fourth consecutive year and doing so in a historical fashion.

Both Stovall and Trinity's Emma Hagan topped the previous conference record with the Southwestern All-American's time of 23.22, besting Hagan's 23.31. Stovall earned her second individual NCAA B-cut this season, having previously qualified in the 100-yard freestyle during November's Trinity Invitational. Frey placed third behind Stovall and Hagan, clocking in at 23.93.

After two days and 12 events, Trinity remains in the lead with a score of 352. Southwestern moved past Colorado College with 260 points. Tomorrow, teams will compete in the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 400-yard medley relay, women's three-meter diving, and men's one-meter diving.
