Southwestern Women Open Season Against Colorado College

GEORGETOWN - The Southwestern University women's swimming team open the 2017-18 season on Friday afternoon with a dual meet against their SCAC-rival, the Colorado College Tigers, at Walzel Natatorium.

The women would fall 172-62, but still got great results throughout the day.

The 200 yard free relay team of junior Cara Chin, junior Erika Dubros, freshman Breely Peterson, and freshman Kate Russell won the event with a time of 1:44.72. freshman Rehgan Hartsell earned a win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:30.65, dominating the field.

Russell also took home a win in the 500 free with a time of 5:34.58.

The relay team of freshman Russell, Hartsell, Chin, and Dubros finished second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:18.40.

Chin placed third in the 50 free with a time of 26.20 while sophomore Teresa Cropper was third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:31.97. Sophomore Sam Rao placed third in the 100 free at 58.16.

Sophomore Brielle Adolph also earned a third place finish in the 1000 free at 11:59.73 while senior Marissa Rosa placed third in the 200 back with a time of 2:27.36. 

The Pirates will continue their weekend opener as they welcome another SCAC-foe into the Walzel Natatorium in the Centenary Ladies. The dual meet is set to begin at 11:00 AM.
