LEWISVILLE, Texas – The Southwestern University women's swimming and diving team found its way to the podium on the first day of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Westside Aquatic Center.

The Pirates placed third in the 800-meter freestyle relay with a time of 7:59.75, which was only 14-hundredths of a second off the school record.

Southwestern finished behind Colorado College (7:45.97) and Trinity (7:49.24) in the event.

The league championships will continue Thursday with a full day of competition, starting at 10:30 a.m.
