LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University sophomore Matt Sluss was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Sluss, a native of Harker Heights, helped the Pirates to a win over Austin College last Saturday in Sherman. The 5-foot-11, 150-pounder captured victories in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. He also was a part of the 200-yard medley relay team that won its race.

Sluss and the rest of the Southwestern squad will return to action Friday against Colorado College.
