Pirates Place 6th at Austin College Invitational

The Pirates placed in 6th place with 133 points, just 5 points behind 5th place finisher, and host, Austin College.  Patrick Flannigan was the brightest part of the meet for the Pirates as he was just a tenth off two of his season best times in the 100 freestyle where he swam a :48.91 for 6th place and the 100 butterfly where he swam a :55.11, also good enough for 6th. 

In the 200 medley relay the team of Ivan Cruickshank, Sam Visser, Patrick Flannigan, and Garrett Holody placed 7th in a field of 14 with a time of 1:44.64.  Sam Visser also had a strong showing in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.51, good enough for 8th place.  In the 50 freestyle, Patrick Flannigan swam a 22.25 to finish in 8th place in a field of 30.  Ivan Cruickshank and Garrett Holody also placed in the top 20 in the same event.  Sam Visser was the Pirates' top finisher in the 200 breast stroke with an 8th place finish and a time of 2:24.87.  In the 200 IM, Daniel Withers placed 15th with a time of 2:11.63. 

In another strong relay showing, the 200 freestyle relay team of Garrett Holody, Daniel Withers, Ivan Cruickshank, and Patrick Flannigan swam a 1:32.48 to take 5th place in a field of 14. 

The Pirates final tune up before the SCAC Championships will be January 27 in San Antonio at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational starting at 6pm.
