PIRATES SHOW CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT AT INCARNATE WORD INVITATIONAL

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Southwestern men’s swim team continues to improve times as they head towards the end of the season. Two swimmers posted season best times and five individuals in nine events had personal best swims at the Incarnate Word Invitational this weekend.

Junior John Prater had the highest finish for the Pirates, taking fifth place in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.96. He also finished in seventh place in the 50 free, posting a personal best time of 22.63.

First-years Steven Weddell and Patrick Flanigan had the best all-around days in the pool for Southwestern as each swimmer had personal best swims in three events. Weddell in the 50 free, 200 free and as leadoff in the 400 free relay and Flanigan in the 50 free, 100 back and 100 free.

Senior Jon LaRochelle finished in a personal best time of 2:14.58 in the 200 IM while junior Josh Stanfield shaved just over a second off of his time to post a personal best of 2:15.23 in the 200 back. Stanfield also had a season best swim as leadoff in the 100 free while junior Taylor Steele did the same as leadoff for the second 400 free relay.

The Pirates return home for a highly contested dual meet with McMurry on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
