Pirates take sixth at SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas- On a chilly morning on a muddy course the Southwestern men's and women's cross country teams took to the field and finished in sixth overall at the SCAC Cross Country Championships.

Alex Medrano highlighted the day with a 10th place finish for the men. His time of 28:26 earned him All-SCAC honors for the second year in a row. Abraham Devenport, in his first conference championship, finished second for the Pirates, 41st overall, with a time of 32:12. Kyle Bauernschmitt was close behind in 32:35 and in 42nd place.

Hector Alemon posted a personal best time of 35:18 for 53rd place and Joey Quintero came in 57th in 38:11.

On the women's side, Emily Boujemaa finished first for the Pirates and in 23rd overall with a time of 26:07. Danielle King had a strong day for a 31st place finish in 26:50 and Valerie Vacek took 41st in 28:13. Brianna Timourian got her first taste of the SCAC Championships and posted a 43rd place finish in a time of 28:16.

Rounding out the Pirate women were Zainab Oketokoun (50th, 29:17), Aimee Slagle (54th, 29:45), Izzy Lackner (59th, 31:24) and Tori McGraw (60th, 31:31).

The men and women next head to Mount Berry, GA to compete in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional hosted by Berry College on November 15th
