Men's Tennis Defeats Mary Hardin-Baylor 9-0

BELTON, Texas — Southwestern men's tennis scored a decisive 9-0 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders. 

Hunter Bajoit and Jarden Burton moved to no. 1 doubles, defeating Cody Aaron and Alejandro Omana 8-4. Steven Tibbetts filled in for Hemanshu Rambojun alongside Vesko Lekovic at no. 2 doubles, winning 8-4 over Robert Galligan and Brylee White. Oscar Roy and Carlos Esteban Rodero won 8-1 against Ethan Kittredge and Diego Martinez at no. 3 doubles. 

"Steven stepped up today playing for Hemanshu teaming up with Vesko, and they played solid doubles from start to finish," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says. 

Bajoit and Lekovic scored a pair of 6-1, 6-0 victories at the top of Southwestern's singles lineup, defeating Galligan and Martinez. Next, Anton Borovik bested White 6-1, 6-4 at no. 3 singles, Tibbets scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Andre Maltzahn at no. 4 singles, Roy won 6-2, 6-1 over Dustin Bolner at the no. 5 spot, and Daniel Haley completed the swept with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Charles Paquin. 

"Vesko's shot tolerance continues to improve, and his result came with more comfort today because of that," Porter says. "Daniel continues to be a rock for us at the bottom of the lineup, and I thought his consistency was visible today." 

The No. 23-ranked Pirates improve to 7-6 with the win. Southwestern will play Texas Lutheran twice on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Seguin, Texas, and St. Thomas and Prairie View on Saturday.
