Southwestern Men Finish Third at Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. - The Southwestern University men's golf team shot a 291 (+3) on Tuesday morning for a three round score of 866 (+2) and a third palce finish at the Rhodes College Fall Classic at Tunica National.

Emory University led from wire-to-wire to earn the victory as they shot a 287 (-1) on Tuesday for a three round score of 855 (-9). Texas-Tyler soared to second place with a three round score of 862 (-2) after a third round score of 283 (-5). Rhodes was fourth 873 (+9) while Sewanee placed fifth at 880 (+16).

The Pirates led the way in Par 4 scoring at +15 and also led the field in birdies with 53 throughout the week.

Senior Sutherland Stith was named to the all-tournament team after finishing tied for fourth individually. Stith shot a 74 (+2) on Tuesday for a three round score of 213 (-3). Stith led all scorers in Par 4 scoring at -4 throughout the week.

Sophomore Cade Osgood pit together a great final round, shooting a 70 (-2) including four birdies in the round. He finished with a total score of 215 (E) and a ninth place finish. Senior Tyler Gammill was right behind Osgood in 10th as he shot a 75 (+3), including five birdies, and a total score of 216 (+1).

Rounding out the team was sophomore Andrew Augustine, who shot a 74 (+2) in round three and a three round score of 224 (+9) while junior Matthew Christl shot a 73 (+1) for a three round score of 225 (+10).

Southwestern will be back in action on October 7th as they head to Flowery Branch, Ga. to compete at the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational.
