Duarte and Koinis pace Pirates to top 5 finish

SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern University women's cross country team raced to a finish fourth place finish Saturday night at the Richard Romo Classic hosted by UTSA.

Lilly Duarte bested her own personal best as she covered the 5k course in 19:16.6 to finish fourth in the non-Division I race. Duarte had set a PR earlier this season at the Texas Lutheran Invitational.  

Kara Koinis also earned a top 20 finish as she paced herself with a time of 20:58.6. Koinis finished 17th as the Pirates finished with 100 team points.

Trinity took home first place followed by Texas Lutheran in second and Texas A&M-Kingsville in third.

Southwestern takes another week off before returning to San Antonio for the Alamo City Duals hosted by Trinity on October 5.
