Pirates Run Hard at South Regional Championships

Atlanta, Georgia – The Southwestern University Women's Cross Country team participated in the NCAA Regional Championships at Nash Battlefield Farm in Hampton, Georgia.  A total of 26 teams came to compete to make it to the NCAA National Championship on Saturday November 17, in Terre Haute.

The pirates placed 16th in the 6k race as a team with an average time of 25:56.07.
Lilly Duarte came in 14th out of 184 runners who participated with a time of 23:25.19. Kara Koinis placed 61st with a time of 24:47:51.  Jillian Curran came in 121st at 26:41.61. Aimee Slagle finished in 133rd with a time of 27:07.34 while Christina Hadly took 139th in 27:38.60. 

Laura Wooden and Brandi Martin rounded out the Pirate runners, coming in at 27:59.18 and 28:01.02, respectively, for 145th and 146th place. 

Duarte earned an All-Region selection for her finish, the first Pirate to do so since 2008.
