YOUNG PIRATES EXCEL AT RHODES INVITATIONAL

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Six of the Pirate women's cross country team posted personal best times, two landing in the Southwestern records, at the regional preview race at Rhodes College. Rhodes will be the host institution for the Regional Championship in mid-November.

In her first collegiate season, Lilly Duarte continues to run strong. While she is still learning to run the longer 6K distance she routinely leads the Pirates and did so again this weekend coming in 15th place overall with a personal best time of 24:14.  Christina Hadly also posted a personal best time at the race, coming in 20th at 25:03. Both Duarte's and Hadley's times landed them in the records at Southwestern, Duarte in seventh and Hadley in 11th.

Kara Koinis and Leticia Terrazas ran with Hadley most of the race and also ran personal best times. Koinis' 25:04 earned her 31st place while Terrazas came in at 25:19 in 36th place.

Ursula James finished in 26:09 for 48th place and Brandi Martin ran a personal best time of 26:45 for 56th. Amanda Sayer finished in 28:29, Sarah Puffer in a personal best time of 30:11 and Meg Greenfield in 30:26 to round out the Pirate team.

The strong team runs gave Southwestern a fifth place finish out of 11 teams. They compete next at the Concordia Invitational in Cedar Park, Texas on October 16th.
