PIRATE WOMEN LIGHT UP COURSE AT TEXAS D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS

SEGUIN, Texas - The Southwestern women's cross country team had a fantastic showing at the annual Texas Division III Championships, finishing in second place out of 11 teams with 80 points.

First-year Lilly Duarte once again led the way for SU, coming in fifth place overall with a time of 24.47.0. She was just 1:20 off the winning time. Sophomore Christina Hadly was close behind, coming in ninth place at 25:33.0.

First-year Laticia Terrazas took 14th place with a run of 25:53.0 while Kara Koinis and Ursula James battled a pack of runners to come in 23rd and 29th respectively in times of 26:29 and 26:46. Amanda Sayer came in 38th place at 27:39 and Brandi Martin came in 39th place at 27:40 to round out the Pirate effort.

Southwestern will use this strong showing as a launching off point for their next meet at the Rhodes Invitational on October 2nd where they will see more SCAC conference opponents.
