WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TOPS IN SCAC; NAMED USTFCCCA DIII ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Southwestern women's cross country team was named as a top scholar team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Their 3.59 team GPA was the highest of all women's cross country teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and was tied for the 13th highest in the nation at Division III.

The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) ranked second in the nation on the women’s side with nine schools earning All-Academic honors, just behind the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference who posted ten schools in the report.

The Pirates ended tied with Baldwin-Wallace and Catholic Univeristy for the 13th highest team GPA of the 153 Division III women’s programs receiving the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic Team honors this year. Whitworth University led the report with a 3.73 team GPA.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
