PIRATE WOMEN POST GOOD TIMES IN FIRST 6K; TAKE FOURTH AT DIII TEXAS CHAMPIONSHIPS

SEGUIN, Texas – Despite not running a 6K yet this year, or ever as the case may be for some of Southwestern runners, the Pirates took fourth place at the DIII Texas Championships on Saturday, finishing behind McMurry, UT-Tyler and Trinity.

Senior Tami Warner took her first 6K of the season head on as she captured third place with a time of 24:56 to lead the SU women. Sophomore Lisa Morse (pictured) was the Pirates second finisher and 11th overall and did so by posting a personal best time of 26:33 and improving on her previous best by nearly a minute.

First-year Christina Hadly came in 16th place, posting a time of 26:54 in her first ever 6K. Rounding out the top five for Southwestern were junior Ursula James who came in 29th place at 28:42 and first-year Laura Wooden with a time of 28:49 for 33rd place. Junior Lili McEntire rounded out the Pirate effort with a 47th place finish in a time of 30:30.

Southwestern will next compete on October 10th at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational in Live Oak, TX.
