PIRATES CONTINUE TO IMPRESS

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Pirate men's cross country team finished in third place out of ten teams at the Concordia Invitational over the weekend, being beat by two NCAA Division I schools, the University of Texas and Texas State.

Sophomore Sam Martinez continues to lead the way for the Pirates as he was flanked by some of the top runners throughout the race. He finished the 5K course in a personal best time of 15:51 and was the #1 finisher among Division III athletes and only one Division II runner finished ahead of Martinez as he came in 12th overall.

Zach Freeland was close behind coming in 18th place overall as the second D-III finisher at a personal best time of 16:13. Stephen Fuentes took 29th place with a final time of 16:35 which was also a cross country personal best time. Addison Englis, Lando Duarte, Sebastian Winkler and Sam Marsh also had personal bests at the run. English finished in 30th at 16:39, Duarte 33rd in 16:48, Winkler in 34th at 16:51 and Marsh in 62nd at 18:46.

Also competing for the Pirates were Thomas Bobbit who finishe din 49th place at 17L43, Allen Smith in 52nd with a time of 17:50, Phillip Davis in 53rd at 17:57 and CJ Martinez in 67th at 19:14.

The meet marks the end of the regular season for the Pirates and was the final tune up before they head to the SCAC Championships on October 30th.
