Martinez had a sensational sophomore campaign for the Pirates. He finish in ninth place at the SCAC Championships with a personal best time of 26:00.9, earning him a spot on the All-Conference team. Martinez was named as SCAC Runner-of-the-Week for the week of Oct. 11-17.

Martinez placed 10th at the Texas DIII Chapmionships with a time of 28:02.

Martinez was a member of the Brahma cross country team.
