PIRATES FARE WELL IN REGIONAL PREVIEW AT RHODES

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - In a regional championship preview race at Rhodes College on Saturday the Pirate men's cross country team ran their best yet despite the rolling, hilly course. Six runners ran personal best times at the meet, a stat the bodes well for later in the season when Rhodes hosts the actual Regional race.

Sophomore Sam Martinez continues to run with confidence, starting strong with a small lead pack. His time of 26:31 earned him a sixth place finish and was a personal best time by over a minute, landing him in fourth on Southwestern's all-time performance list.

Zach Freeland (pictured) came in at 27:14 for a 19th place finish while senior Addison English was close behind with a personal best time of 27:33 and in 28th place. Sebastian Winkler ran a personal best time of 28:28 for 44th place while Lando Duarte came in at 28:56 for 54th place, also a personal best.

Thomas Bobbit took 66th with a time of 29:31 while Philip Davis and CJ Martinez also posted personal best times, coming in at 31:58 and 32:38 respectively.

Southwestern finished in sixth place out of 15 teams despite missing two of their top five runners. The Pirates next compete at the Concordia Invitational that will be held on October 16th in Cedar Park, TX.
