Pirates Dominate DIII Teams at Concordia Invitational

The Southwestern Pirates used top finishes from Sam Martinez and Paden Williams to be the highest placed Division III team at the Concordia Invitational on Saturday where they ran against schools and runners from all levels and affiliations.  Sam Martinez was the top Division III finisher and the 18th overall finisher with a time of 16:16.28.  Paden Williams wasn't too far behind with a time of 16:31.06 and was the second DIII finisher.  Keeping the trend going, Stephen Fuentes was the third DIII finisher, 29th overall, with a time of 16:58.86.  Andres Soto finished 36th overall with a time of 17:46.08, the 6th DIII finisher.  John Cooper ran a 17:59.80 to finish 40th and 10th in Division three.  The Pirates placed five runners in the top ten when it came to division three schools.  Caleb Ruckel finished 41st with a time of 18.12.69, personal record, and was the 11th DIII finisher.  Cody Taylor finshed in 48th with a time of 18:58.62. 

The Pirates led the next Division III team by 74 points.  The Pirates are running well heading into the SCAC Championships on October 29 in Sewanee, TN.
