The 2009 NCAA Division III Swim and Dive Championships were historic this year with it being the first combined meet ever, but for Jessie Carrier, it was a culmination of four years of tireless work in the pool.
The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced its inaugural Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving All-Sportsmanship teams. Eighteen men's and women's swimmers were selected to the 2009 squad.
Senior Jessie Carrier (Victoria, Texas) has qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. With a time of 23.78 in the 50-yard freestyle, Carrier qualified as the 20th seed. She will also swim the 100 Free and 200 Free at the National Championships. This is the first time in school history for a Southwestern swimmer or diver to be invited to the national meet.
The 2008-2009 Southwestern University Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams finished off the 2009 SCAC Championships with 4 additional school records, two NCAA B-Cuts and an event champion in the women's 200 Backstroke.
Day two at the SCAC Swim/Dive Championships in Nashville, TN was even more successful for the Pirates as they posted six more school records, had two NCAA B-cuts and one event champion.
After just one day of competition at the SCAC Championships in Nashville, TN the Pirates have already set eight new school records and posted two all conference swims.
