PIRATES OUTSWIM PRINCIPIA IN HOME DUAL MEET

Results

Southwestern University took on Principia College in a head-to-head meet on Saturday and came out victorious on both sides. The women won by a count of 81-52 and the men won 94-80.

The Pirates swam well during the meet winning 10 races on the women's side and 8 races on the men's.  Southwestern University dominated the men's 100 and 200 yard freestyle, taking first, second and third place in both events.  In the 100 free, Evan Firth came in first place with a time of 51.63, followed by Dustin McCammon at 52.05 and Josh Stanfield at 55.76.  In the 200 yard race, McCammon captured first place with a time of 1:54.78, Taylor Steele took second at 1:57.54, followed by Travis Macha in third at 2:01.30.  John Prater took first place in the 200 yard individual medley and bettered his seed time by nearly 2 seconds, finishing in a time of 2:11.80. 

In the women's 100 yard breaststroke, Southwestern secured first and second place.  Stephanie Morton won in a time of 1:20.47 and Michelle Comerota took second coming in at 1:21.19.  Alana Bergfield won the 200 yard freestyle and bettered her seed time of 2:05.34 by finishing in 2:03.35.

The Pirates next meet will be after the holiday season against always tough McMurry University.  The meet will begin at noon in Georgetown on January 17th.
